Greetings!
Welcome to Henderson Independent High School, Home of the Eagles! I am the PROUD principal of Henderson Independent High School, the alternative school in Rowan-Salisbury School District. We are truly the “Place of Possibilities”! It is an honor to serve you in this capacity as we provide an EXTRAORDINARY EDUCATION EVERYDAY for our students. I come to you with sixteen years of educational experience spanning from grades K-12 as a middle school Science/Math classroom teacher, elementary Curriculum Facilitator, NC Principal Fellow, and a high school Administrator.
Education is my life, and I am passionate about making a difference and empowering our students to positively impact the world with their gifts and talents. We have PHENOMENAL students at Henderson who are the reason and motivation for everything we do! As a school, we will work diligently with our families and community partners to create LEADERS who will impact the world. This will be done through a laser-focus on literacy, internship/apprenticeship opportunities, and character education initiatives for our students.
I am elated to bring my skills as an educational leader to our staff and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure our students’ success. I have a BS in Biology from Spelman College and have received a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution, Master of School Administration, and Specialist in Education degrees from UNC-Greensboro. I am presently pursuing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from UNC-Greensboro.
I will work hard to cultivate a legacy of excellence at Henderson by building strong relationships with our students, parents, and community as we equip our students with career and college readiness skills.
I anticipate a most successful year as we support the academic, social, and emotional growth of every student here at HIHS. My personal motto is to Equip. Empower. Enlighten. Being a part of your educational village, I am here to help you in any way possible. I believe EVERY student in our building can and will achieve greatness with all of us working together. I look forward to working with you this school year: Please do not hesitate to contact me as we move forward: [email protected]. GO EAGLES!!
With Eagle Pride,
Arlisa Armond, Ed.S.
